This all started a while ago, when I was looking for the right Inquisitor model for my Grey Knight army. I could not find what I wanted specifically, so I opted for the Power armoured model from Games Workshop found 'Here'.
After scouring GW's website, I finally had a vision to use the Eldar Prince Yriel model. Above is a little sketch of how I imagined it would look like after a heavy conversion. Not the best artist but I gave myself the image I wanted (Laughing at my own drawing lol).
I am not going to delve into the background in this post, but he is basically not dressed in Inquisitor icon adorned clothing for most of his assignments until he brings the final judgement. This is where he puts on his =][= clothing and carapace armour and arms up. The idea being that the model is posed as if jumping into battle ready for the final encounter bringing down the wrath of the inquisition.
Altering the Model
So as you can see, Finecast is really easy to work with and I have already change the appearance. I started by removing the head and cutting out the collar area as I wanted to keep this in tact. There is also a lot of Eldar filigree on the cloak which I also removed, being very careful not to cut through the thin areas. I kept the outline trim as it will come in handy later.
Next I cut off the Tyranid body part he was stood on and started to remove all the Eldar parts. This took a long time because I wanted to keep the the structure of the model and the moulding of the chest area.
The original model had a sticking out part on the back and shoulders where the back pack sat. This was removed and I carefully sculpted the shoulders in to look more natural. The strap on the back was kept and I sculpted the top back in, this will hold the scabbard of his sword later.
Well that's it for now, part II will be posted soon where I will move onto filling in and sculpting the body. I have also sourced a lot of parts from ebay and friends bits boxes. His retinue is also in the process of being obtained as well.
